When a person visits a court facility, regardless of the reason, they are required to go through a security entrance and submit to a search. Every year, arrests are made of individuals attempting to bring weapons, narcotics, controlled substances and other contraband into the courthouses.
Courtroom Safety
Various methods are used to enhance courtroom safety while screening courtroom visitors. Deputies assigned to the Judicial Center Security use metal detectors (walk-through and hand-held devices), x-ray machines, and if need arises, a physical pat-down of those who enter the Richmond County Judicial Center. These deputies are aided by the monitoring of video surveillance cameras throughout the facility both inside and out.
Expectations for Visitors
All persons attending the Richmond County Judicial Center are expected to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner and to wear appropriate attire. No hats should be worn inside the Richmond County court rooms.
