A Message from the Sheriff

Welcome to the Richmond County Sheriff's Office webpage. I, Sheriff Mark B. Gulledge, hope you enjoy your visit, and I welcome the opportunity to share with you information about our outstanding law enforcement agency. Our mission at the Sheriff's Office is to improve the quality of life in our county by reducing fear, preventing crime and enforcing the law while protecting each individual's freedoms guaranteed by the United States Constitution.

Richmond County is located approximately 70 miles Southeast of Charlotte NC and 60 miles west of Fayetteville NC. The county's land area is 474 square miles and serves a population of approximately 46,000 citizens.

The Richmond County Sheriff's Office is staffed with 101 highly trained and professional staff members and deputies.  The Sheriff’s Offices’ staff is comprised of both eighty-four (84) sworn and seventeen (17) non-sworn personnel, twenty-seven (27) of which are assigned to duties in the Richmond County Detention Facility

On our website, you will find information about the Richmond County Sheriff's Office, the most often used agency telephone numbers, recent news releases, publicly needed forms, and useful links to other sites. Through our website and web links, you will be able to search for sexual predators and sexual offenders, find information about the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, Division of Adult Corrections inmates and information concerning North Carolina State government, prepare and print useful forms for handgun purchases and concealed handgun permit applications and renewals, and locate other interesting places to visit.

Our web site gives yet another means of staying in touch with the citizens of Richmond County and its visitors. I have provided a place for you to send e-mail to me with your suggestions and comments about the Sheriff's Office and these pages.

With courage, honor, and integrity we protect the rights and dignity of all citizens. In partnership with our communities, we strive to preserve the peace and provide for a safe environment for all.

Mark B. Gulledge, Sheriff
